・Nitori International Scholarship Foundation

This scholarship offers a base of 50,000 yen per month, but depending on the selection results, an additional stipend of up to 30,000 yen per month can be awarded to successful applicants. ・Heiwa Nakajima Foundation International Student Scholarship

This scholarship is open not only to undergraduate students but also to international students in master’s and doctoral programs.

・Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Scholarship

There is no designated country or region of origin for international students, but for this scholarship, you must apply with specific schools. In 2023, for example, international students enrolled in designated universities in Kyoto (20 schools) may apply. Recipients for this scholarship are essentially selected via  document screening and an interview, but there are also written examinations depending on the region.

・Japan International and Cultural Studies Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship is for international students researching Japanese culture, who are enrolled in doctoral programs at 19 designated universities in Kyoto Prefecture.

・Jang Bong Joon Scholarship

This scholarship is for privately financed international students from Asia who are enrolled in universities and graduate schools in Kyoto City.

・Sato Yo International Scholarship Foundation

This scholarship is for international students from Southeast and South Asia. In addition to a fixed monthly stipend, tuition subsidies and conference attendance subsidies (for graduate students only) are also provided with this scholarship.

・SGH Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship is for international students from Southeast Asia.

・Kyoritsu International Exchange Scholarship Foundation Scholarship

In addition to university and graduate students from Asia, vocational school students can also apply for this scholarship. However, the schools through which students can apply are pre-determined, so please check with your school first.
