'More freedom to take on challenges' Based on its founding spirit of 'Freedom and Innovation' and its educational philosophy of 'Peace and Democracy,' Ritsumeikan University, with the spirit of 'Believe in the future, live in the future,' sets as its educational mission the cultivation of people who, on a foundation of solid academic ability, let their rich individuality blossom and can play active roles as global citizens with justice and ethics. Through the collaboration of various departments, faculty and staff work together to support students with diverse backgrounds and personalities in learning and growing proactively. Throughout student life, both curricular and extracurricular, we aim to cultivate students who learn from one another and strive together within a 'learning community,' and who, upon graduation, can do the following: (1) Respect diverse values, value dialogue and collaboration with others, and engage in autonomous thinking and action backed by the values of 'Peace and Democracy.' (2) Possess broad cultivation and expertise, have both global and local perspectives, and discover and solve problems through 'free' and 'innovative' thinking and action that transcends existing frameworks and boundaries. (3) Understand themselves and engage in responsible thinking and action based on their own roles and challenges. (4) Hold the high aspiration to 'believe in the future and live in the future,' and continue to learn and act throughout their lives.
