Spring: Hanami (cherry blossom viewing)
In the spring, Kyoto’s temples, shrines, and mountains become tinged in cherry blossom pink.
In Japan, people engage in hanami, relaxing with friends and food under the cherry blossoms. As only certain places allow hanami, we recommend consulting the Internet before heading out.
A bike ride or walk can also be a great way to see the cherry blossoms that bloom throughout Kyoto.
Northern Kyoto Prefecture has a number of swimming beaches.
Most beaches open around the beginning of July. As every beach has different facilities and opens at different times of the year, look up this information before going.
Fall: Autumnal leaves
