For example, on Study Kyoto’s employment event website Beyond Study Kyoto, you can find posts on internships and career forum events for international students, so there’s plenty of helpful information students can benefit from right away.

Also, Study Kyoto’s international student support and exchange community KyoTomorrow Academy, offers not only company visits, workshops with business owners in Kyoto, and business Japanese courses, but events to help international students prepare before they begin job hunting in earnest, such as Japanese conversation practice for job hunting and events to build networks between students. In addition to job-related events, there are also programs offering traditional Kyoto cultural experiences and exchange events for international students, so be sure to take a look!

Another event to watch out for is the Career Forum, which is a matching event for international students and global companies looking for multilingual staff, held once a year in Kyoto. During the event, participants can reserve attendance to special seminars, resume proofreading, mock interviews, and more, so be sure to check the event information early!

If the university where you study is part of the International Student Employment Support Network, you can get access to exam preparation materials and online materials for business Japanese courses that should help you to prepare for job hunting. You can also receive corporate recruitment information, company information sessions, and seminar information for international students, so international students from member schools should be sure to take advantage of this. (Please check with the person in charge of your university’s career department to see if your university is part of this network.)

Among the services provided by MyNavi, which was mentioned earlier, there are also dedicated services for international students available, and it’s also possible to find companies that specifically hire international students by entering “international student” (留学生) as a search keyword on job information services used in Japan.

During the process of actually job hunting using the various services introduced here, there may be things you don’t understand or want advice about. In such cases, Hello Work’s New Graduate Support provides consultation services for international students, too, so please make use of them. Hello Work is a public employment security office established by the government, and it provides a final safety net, mainly for people who have difficulty finding employment, so you feel confident consulting with staff there. Also, in Kyoto Prefecture, individual consultations, interview prep, and other job hunting support is provided in collaboration with Hello Work at the Kyoto Employment Support Center for International Students.
